...reading
Here I share some of my favourite books.
But first I would like to share how awesome reading is. Check out this video explaining how the human brain reads. It is really exciting!
fiction books
- anything H.P. Lovecraft
I am just really in love with the dark and mysterious atmosphere that is being created by his stories. I get excited over the combination of madness and supernatural that I feel like could not be too far away from reality. - anything Oscar Wilde
I feel like he has some deep stuff adressed in his books. Some of my favourite quotes are from his books. I also read the biography recently so that just further ignited the curiousity towards the person. A literal wild man. - anything Isaac Asimov
His contribution to robot or machine ethics is incredible. It's especially exciting in the time and age with rising importance of this topic. He was so ahead of his time!
educational books
- books by Yuval Noah Harari
He wrote three books about humanity that I find should be a must read for a human to understand legacy and history and it's species as a whole. - books by Stephen Hawking
If you like me are interested in physics and the universe you need to read his works. I first read one as a teenage with little background knowlwdge. It is really accessible and so much fun to think about all these things going on without our day to day awareness.
...movies
I am in love with old scifi movies that live of good story and great ideas rather than big stunts and CGI. So you will be able to find some of those in the following list. The links will lead you to a trailer to give you a first impression.
- Planet of The Apes
This is an all time favourite for me! I still remember how much I was in awe after finishing the very first one from 1968.
...series
Don't we all love a good show? Here are some of my favourites! Same as with the movie category the links will lead you to a trailer to give you a first impression.
- G.L.O.W. or Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling is a well written show based on a true story of an 1980ies wrestling group made up of women - the first of it's kind. It's a visually pleasing show and good character development!
- Mind Hunter is a dark pyschological thriller drama taking place in 1970ies FBI and founding of Behaviour Science Unit with all that serial killer stuff going on in the USA.
...music
I barely ever listen to music, but rather join in for the live music that is played on the streets or on concerts. I don't even own headphones. I like to experience the city I am living in fully. If it gets too much I put in my earplugs.
But on sometimes you just wanna listen to music. I personally mostly do it when cleaning. Then its just one big happy party instead of a chore!
I am also part of a band formed by several family members, great uncles and cousins and such. They are called "The Dietmars". We mostly play 60ies and 70ies rock but also everything else we like. We yet have to write our own songs. I am usually singing, but occasionally I also play simple bass or drum bits.
I want to make a list of my favourite Berlin based musicians
- The Hidden Keys are just amazing humans and make great highly danceable music. I especially like the reoccuring scientific perspective on things. If you ever get the chance to go to a concert, you should!
Nate the lead singer is the godfather of the berlin street musician scene. I am not the only one thinking that way. He hosts frequent events to foster the scene and is just a wholesome being.
this is my dreamy music playlist
Music I put on this must qualify to be played over a scence with me alone walking down a semi-urban-rural night scene street with scarce streets light. only then it goes here.
